Steamboat 100

Last night Rachel and I made an executive decision to change our plans a bit for the latter half of the year.  This means a warm weather vacation and just a few extra miles in September...

Language is a bit salty, but this was in my head when I submitted my change from 50 to 100:

Have fun! Looks like a great race, I'm going to wait until late summer to commit.
.
Good reading list, I'd recommend '1984' and 'Brave New World' at the top of the next ones...
If you like Steinbeck ('The Pearl'), 'Grapes of Wrath' is one of my all-time favourites, and 'Tortilla Flat' has a great depiction of sort of a simple and interesting lifestyle of paisanos in California. (I could imagine hanging out in redwoods and drinking cheap wine).

Thanks Mike. I'm excited for 1984 (especially given that it's the year of my birth and I'm embarrassed that I haven't read it already), and BNW is going to be a multiple time re-read before tackling the other Huxley books. I love me some Steinbeck (I grew up in Salinas, CA and only moved here in 2003), and agree with all of those points. If you haven't read it, JS's WWII novella "The Moon is Down" is his best work IMO, you should check it out.

"The Moon is Down" -- now on the list (wasn't on my radar), thanks!

Central coast CA is awesome.

And, for reasons similar to yours for 1984, I'm personally glad the Smashing Pumpkins "1979" was a decent song!
