The 2012 Race Season?

Oddly enough, my wife brought up the subject of the 2012 race season last night. So, naturally, I started thinking about it. A bit premature I admit, but looking at races is always fun.

Some ideas I've had include:

The only race I really would like to travel FAR for...

Cascade Crest 100. My absolute must have race (not necessarily this coming year, but it's the race I'd most like to do)

Colorado races I've yet to run...

Run Through Time Trail Marathon, North Fork 50K, CP50, San Juan... Hardrock...?

Is Clarkie still gonna put on a 100K? Please? Perhaps an RD experience that doesn't involve the hospital?

Close by races (driving distance)...

Zion 100? Ghost Town? A return to BigHorn? Black Hills?

East coasters...

Grindstone? Hellgate? If I go back for Hellgate, I want to make sure the weather is completely horrible so Horty and Ramsey will quit whining about how nice it was last year!

Canada...

Not likely, but I'd love to race Knee Knacker...

"Vacation" trips...

We travel to see family in Northern California and South Central Texas on occasion... No reason to avoid a mix and match :)

Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

***POSTSCRIPT***

Likely options now opened up most (or all) of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois. Likely this means a trip out for the Ice Age 50

South Central Texas is a great excuse to run the Bandera 100k and/or Cactus Rose.

A 50k, yes (El Chubbo), but that will actually be early Dec 2011. The 100k is still in the works, but kinks still to be worked out on route with NFS. 2012 maybe, but 2013 more likely.

For even more FoCo action, the Bluesky Marathon is in Oct.

Salida = must-do early season primer.

Breck Crest marathon - awesome race.

Ghost Town is no longer. Tedious course anyway.

Bandera is fun and easily accessible from San Antonio. Might go back myself.

JT- Bandera is more likely in regards to timing. Would be fun.

Brendan- Bandera/CR I think would be the best fit for you. Same course (ish) but it actually has hills and technical trail. I've thought about RR in the past, but I don't have a reason to travel far to do a flat 100. It'd be as exciting as running Boulder 100. I guess unless you wanted to race the competition...

Nick- Bummer, El Chubbo is a lock for me. Gotta get that CR back eh? Salida is pretty much a go right now. Would like to do Breck Crest too. Not sure about when though. I think next year I'll lean towards the longer stuff as I typically enjoy them more and do better. I've done enough 50K's this year to last a while.

Bandera and/or Cactus Rose (they are more or less the same trails) hands down over Rocky Raccoon. Love the trails down in Bandera, plus you could visit Austin on that trip. Much more fun than a Rocky/Houston vacation.

And the competition at Bandera ain't no joke anymore now that it's a qualifier for Western. Well, except for that year that nobody showed up and Nick ended up winning...

Just forget racing next year and let's find someone to sponsor us to go on vacation...
